The online game for Wright-Patterson Mah Jongg players has been released for public beta testing! MAHJ-A-THON, Play with Purpose
The inaugural 24-hour MAHJ-A-THON event was held on Saturday, 1026/2024. Community members made generous donations to support the efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Some joined in let’s play segments and bid on silent auction items. Segments with interactive presentations and gameplay featured commentary on some topics from the Skills and Strategies Matrix. New Content
In response to requests from members, three mini-courses have been added to optional programs:
- Hong Kong Mahjong Mini-Course
- Wright-Patterson Mah Jongg Mini-Course
- How to Teach Online Mini-Course
All courses are entirely online, allowing participants to set their schedules and deadlines as they move through the content at their own pace. Modules include links to pre-recorded videos, materials, and resources. The last step is to attend a virtual workshop where participants can ask questions and get coaching. Regular training courses are free and vary in length. A standard course can take several weeks ($197-$397), while a mini-course ($97) can usually be completed within a week.
Merit Program for Instructors
The Merit Program for Instructors (MPI) is designed to provide a means for American mah jongg instructors to test their knowledge of the game with the potential to earn microcredentials. Congratulations to these instructors for their achievements.
