Susan discovered American mah jongg and quickly fell in love with the game’s blend of strategy, friendship, and community. Inspired by the connections that naturally form around the table, she created Lilac Mahjong to help others experience that same sense of enjoyment and belonging.

Susan brings a patient and encouraging approach to her instruction. She believes mah jongg is approachable and that every student can learn with clear guidance, practice, and support. Her teaching style meets players where they are, helping them build skills and confidence at a comfortable pace.

Through Lilac Mahjong, Susan offers beginner lessons, guided play, open play, and welcoming events designed to help people learn, connect, and enjoy the game together. Her goal is to grow a vibrant local mah jongg community where players feel comfortable joining the table, developing their skills, and forming lasting friendships.
