Mary Sue Katz
Biography
Mary Sue began playing mah jongg in the early 1990s and started teaching friends just a few years later. Driven by a strong desire to understand the game thoroughly, she regularly studied the rules and often verified interpretations directly with the National Mah Jongg League. Over the years, she has taught more than 100 people to play, generously sharing her knowledge simply for the love of the game.
With a background in Special Education, Mary Sue finds deep fulfillment in teaching and helping others learn with confidence. She strongly encourages students to build their foundation using official rules rather than relying on “table rules,” believing a solid understanding of the game allows players to make informed choices about how they play. Known for her patient and practical approach, Mary Sue enjoys a relaxed, easygoing game centered on learning, fun, and good company.
