Mary Pike
Biography
Mary has been a mah jongg player for 26 years and an instructor for the past eight, specializing in introductory courses for beginners and refresher classes for returning players. She has taught for the Citrus Hills Women’s Club and for two years at the local public library, helping countless students build confidence and skill at the table.
A retired professional speaker and adjunct professor in Communication, Mary has also developed and delivered workshops for multinational companies. Her background in education and training shapes her clear, structured, and engaging teaching style.
A long-standing member of the National Mah Jongg League, Mary is deeply committed to honoring the traditions and standards of American mah jongg. She is passionate about bringing new players into the game—not only to learn strategy and sharpen thinking skills, but to meet new people, build community, and enjoy the challenge at any age.
Mary is currently developing a creative “summer camp”–style series that allows players to relax, experiment with skill drills, and deepen their strategic understanding in a fun, supportive environment. She looks forward to continuing her growth and connection within the Guild community.
