Amy Steffen
Biography
After spending more than two decades leading large-scale global business transformation and strategy initiatives, Amy discovered that teaching mah jongg offered something uniquely rewarding: the opportunity to bring people together, build confidence, and create lasting friendships. She co-founded Mah Jongg Minds in St. Louis, where she helped hundreds of players learn the National Mah Jongg League game through beginner classes, strategy workshops, leagues, and open play events.
Known for her patient teaching style and ability to make complex concepts approachable, Amy specializes in helping new players build a strong foundation in a supportive, judgment-free environment. Her classes focus not only on learning the rules, but also on developing confidence, strategic thinking, and a genuine love for the game.
In 2026, Amy launched Clover Club, creating a welcoming space where players of all experience levels can gather to learn, play, and build community. Through classes, leagues, and social events, she is passionate about fostering meaningful connections both at and beyond the mah jongg table.
When she’s not teaching, Amy enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and helping others find their seat at the table. She believes the true magic of mah jongg lies not only in the tiles, but in the friendships, laughter, and sense of belonging created along the way.
