Amy Mills
Biography
Amy discovered her love of mah jongg after becoming a part-time resident of Southwest Florida. What began as learning a new game quickly grew into a passion for teaching and building community. Together with a friend, she founded a beginner mah jongg club in their community, which rapidly expanded to more than 100 members. Through patient instruction and encouragement, she has helped countless players gain confidence and develop a lasting appreciation for the game.
Amy believes mah jongg is about much more than tiles and strategy. She sees it as a powerful way to bring people together, strengthen social connections, keep minds active, and create lasting friendships. Her teaching style focuses on making players feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn, whether they are brand new to the game or looking to improve their skills.
As an empty nester who splits her time between Ohio and Florida, Amy enjoys creating opportunities for people to connect, share experiences, and build a sense of belonging. She values the friendships and community that naturally develop around the mah jongg table and is passionate about helping others experience those same benefits.
Outside of mah jongg, Amy mentors young athletes as they navigate life after college and explore new opportunities beyond sports. She recently welcomed her first grandchild and looks forward to one day sharing her love of mah jongg with the next generation. Amy and her husband enjoy traveling, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends between their two homes. Through both teaching and mentoring, Amy is dedicated to helping others learn, grow, and connect.
