Biography
Adrienne discovered American mah jongg in 2013 after her daughter left for college, when friends encouraged her to learn the game. What began as a new hobby quickly became a lifelong passion. She continues to play in two weekly groups—one she found through Meetup and another she helped establish after the pandemic that recently celebrated five years of playing together.
An enthusiastic student of the game, Adrienne enjoys reading mah jongg books and collecting vintage sets, appreciating the history and artistry reflected in their beautiful designs. Since 2021, she has shared her love of the game by teaching at libraries, senior centers, adult education programs, and private group lessons.
Adrienne believes patience, kindness, and encouragement are the foundation of effective teaching. She emphasizes learning the game using National Mah Jongg League rules, helping students build confidence and develop a strong foundation they can take to any mah jongg table. Her goal is to create a welcoming environment where every player feels supported, challenged, and inspired to enjoy the game for years to come.
