Mary Anne Adler
Biography
Mary Anne discovered American mah jongg in October 2024 and quickly fell in love with the game’s strategy, challenge, and the friendships it creates. What began as a curiosity soon became a passion—not only for playing, but for helping others discover the enjoyment and connection found around the mah jongg table.
She began teaching friends around her kitchen table in January 2025, and as word spread, her small gatherings grew into private lessons, guided play sessions, and beginner classes throughout her community. Known for her welcoming and encouraging teaching style, Mary Anne creates a relaxed environment where new players feel comfortable learning, asking questions, and building confidence.
As part of her commitment to serving others, Mary Anne teaches mah jongg classes through her local church’s outreach ministry, sharing both her time and her love of the game. She also hosts events in local restaurants, businesses, and private homes, creating spaces where learning, laughter, and lasting friendships flourish.
In addition to beginner instruction, Mary Anne offers her popular Charleston Boot Camp, helping players gain confidence with one of the most important strategic elements of American mah jongg. She especially enjoys seeing the moment when everything clicks, and students realize they truly understand the game.
Mary Anne also shares mah jongg tips, strategy, and encouragement through her growing Bam with Mary Anne community on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Her mission is simple: to make American mah jongg approachable, enjoyable, and accessible to everyone.
