Lana has been playing mah jongg since 2017. She learned from a friend at church, and within a few months, she realized that she was hooked. She bought a book, read all the rules, and started looking for more groups to play with. She lives in a metropolitan area and joined a large group of experienced players. Lana now plays several times a week, plays in tournaments, hosts fundraising tournaments, and is teaching others how to play.

NMJL Card Collector Charity: Based in Houston, Texas, this Mah Jongg card collection effort supports the Christian Community Service Center (http://www.ccschouston.org), a local nonprofit providing food, clothing, and emergency assistance to families in need. Orders may be placed by emailing bouttime4mahjongg@gmail.com. Payments are accepted by check, Venmo, or Zelle, with instructions provided upon order confirmation. Every card ordered helps strengthen the Houston community—one tile at a time.
