Holly Osborne
Biography
Holly is a proud band mom and lifelong mah jongg enthusiast who found her calling one tile at a time. Growing up playing Chinese and Filipino mah jongg, she already had the game in her life by the time she discovered American mah jongg in August 2024. She was immediately hooked, and what began as a personal passion soon grew into a desire to create a space where others could experience the connection, community, and fun that mah jongg brings.
With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UTSA and a master’s degree in school counseling from Lamar University, Holly brings a strong background in education, communication, and relationship building to her teaching. Creating Simply Mahj brought together the things she loves most—people, learning, and, of course, the tiles. Through classes and events, she creates welcoming experiences where players can learn, connect, and enjoy the game together.
When she’s not teaching or hosting events, Holly enjoys relaxing with her favorite shows and planning her next cruise adventure. Her appreciation for multiple styles of mah jongg has shown her that the game crosses cultures, generations, and borders—and she loves being part of the community it creates wherever the tiles are played.
