Instructor Guild Orientation

Welcome! You’re now part of a community dedicated to helping mah jongg instructors learn, grow, and thrive.

At Mahj Life, we believe great instructors are lifelong learners and that earning your reputation is an ongoing journey. Whether you’re just beginning your teaching career or expanding an established practice, the Guild provides structured learning, practical tools, and a supportive community to help you continue developing your knowledge, credibility, and confidence.

Annual Membership Renewal

Guild membership renews annually and is not automatic. To help you stay on track, we’ll communicate with you throughout your renewal window:

30-Day Notice → About to Expire

You’ll receive your first renewal notice approximately 30 days before your membership expires, followed by a reminder as your expiration date approaches. If you haven’t renewed by your expiration date, your membership will end. If you’d like to return to the Guild in the future, you’ll be welcome to submit a new membership application.

To renew, log in to Mahj Life, hover over My Programs, and select Membership Renewal.

Your First Three Steps

Step 1. Watch the Guild Dashboard Navigation Video to learn how to navigate the dashboard and discover where to find your resources.

Step 2. Join the Nexus – Connect with fellow members, ask questions, and share insights in our private Facebook community.

Step 3. Take the Instructor Self-Assessment System (I-SAS). Complete the I-SAS if you wish to be listed in the Mahj Life Instructor Directory. The assessment consists of seven modules and takes about 45 minutes to complete. Modules 2–6 each include an untimed 12-question quiz that you should complete in one sitting. Your responses and results are private and are for your eyes only.

The Guild offers a wealth of learning opportunities, tools, and resources to support your professional development. With so much available, you may wonder where to begin.

Focus on your immediate goals rather than trying to explore everything at once. You don’t need to complete every course or use every resource to make meaningful progress.

If your goal is to be listed in the Mahj Life Instructor Directory, begin with the Instructor Self-Assessment System (I-SAS). Its modules guide you through the assessment process, helping you recognize your strengths and identify areas for development. You may discover topics you’d like to explore more deeply, but you don’t need to complete all the other training courses before finishing I-SAS.

If your goal is to strengthen your teaching skills or develop your business, explore the Pathways Hub. It offers self-paced learning opportunities organized around your professional goals and needs.

To access the Pathways Hub, hover over My Programs, click Guild Dashboard, and select Read More under Pathways Hub.

Remember, your professional development is an ongoing journey, not a checklist to finish. Choose one goal, explore the resources that support it, and build from there. The Guild will support you as your experience, interests, and goals evolve.
