NMJL CARD COLLECTORS (ARTICLE 243)

When mah jongg was first imported to America in the early 1920s, a group of mah jongg enthusiasts in New York standardized the rules for their sisterhood. As time passed, other synagogues wanted to do the same thing, so they decided to share their unique version of the game through an organization and publish the card annually, with some of the proceeds going to charity. For American mah jongg players, purchasing the annual card is a joy because they get to play new hands. Their purchase is also an opportunity to give back to the community.  

The league has a program for community members interested in raising funds for their chosen charity. People who register for the program are called “collectors.” Read HOW TO BECOME A NMJL COLLECTOR (Article 84) to learn about the registration process.
