How Can We Help?
TWO PLAYERS DECLARE MAH JONGG, ONE WITH A PICK FROM THE WALL AND ONE FOR THE LAST DISCARD (Article 223)
Commentary: There are rulings for simultaneous mah jongg declarations and the window of opportunity on the last discard:
- WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FOR THE LAST DISCARD (ARTICLE 107)
- SIMULTANEOUS CALL FOR MAH JONGG (ARTICLE 92)
However, when a player picks a tile from the wall and declares mah jongg after seeing a picked tile from the wall, they are the winner even if another player declares mah jongg on the previous discard.
Question from a player: Player 1 picked a tile from the wall and declared mahjongg before racking or exposing. Simultaneously, Player 2 called the last discard for mah jongg. Who gets the mah jongg, Player 1 who declared mah jongg first, or Player 2 who called the discard for mah jongg before the other player racked or exposed?
Answer from the league: When a player picks a tile from the wall and declares mah jongg upon seeing the tile, the game ends even if another player declares mah jongg on the previous discard.
