MESSY MAH JONGG (Article 206)
Commentary: There is a recent trend of quickening the game in some American mah jongg groups. The latest version is called Messy Mah Jongg. The tiles are mixed and no walls are built. Players randomly pick 13/14 tiles for their dealt hand and the Charleston is played as normal. This house rule is also known as Freestyle or Down and Dirty.
Eliminating walls and dealing in rounds is common in Siamese mah jongg versions.
There is another house rule that quickens gameplay called, Stacks. The house rule is also called Key West, Grab and Go, or Houses in some circles.
