Biography

Beth Hinson is an instructor at Lake Tillery Mahjong Loft in Norwood, North Carolina, where she shares her love of American mah jongg alongside her friend and Loft founder, Kim Bost. Together, they have created a warm and inviting space where players can learn, play, and build friendships while enjoying the peaceful setting overlooking Lake Tillery.

Beth helps welcome players through beginner instruction, guided play, open play, and themed events designed to make mah jongg approachable and enjoyable. She and Kim also enjoy creating beautiful tablescapes and thoughtful touches that make every gathering at the Loft feel special.

For Beth, mah jongg is about much more than learning the game. It’s an opportunity to connect with others, strengthen friendships, and become part of a welcoming community. Tiles, Connection, Community captures the spirit of the Lake Tillery Mahjong Loft and the experience Beth strives to create for every player who joins the table.

The Lake Tillery Mahjong Loft is a small, dedicated mahjong studio overlooking beautiful Lake Tillery. Open play is offered weekly, themed games are offered, and beginner and guided play classes are offered regularly. The studio is also available for special events.
