Biography

Krista is an enthusiastic American mah jongg instructor known for her warm, approachable teaching style and her ability to make the game accessible to new and developing players. With more than five years of playing experience and a strong track record of building a local mah jongg community, she discovered a true passion for teaching—helping others develop the strategy, confidence, and connection that make the game so meaningful.

She teaches small-group classes throughout the year, offering one to two sessions per month in the spring and fall, and increasing to three to five sessions per month during the winter and summer. Krista also hosts an annual fundraising mah jongg event that brings players together to learn, support local causes, and celebrate the camaraderie of the game.

Krista specializes in guiding beginners and early-intermediate players through the foundations of American mah jongg, including interpreting the NMJL card, recognizing tile patterns, understanding exposures and calling strategy, and building strong etiquette and decision-making habits. Her clear, step-by-step instructions and supportive atmosphere help students feel comfortable, capable, and eager to continue learning.

With a background in community building and a creative eye for crafting and designing themed mah jongg sets, Krista brings both structure and heart to every class. She believes mah jongg is more than a game—it’s a way to connect, unwind, and share meaningful moments. Her goal is to help every student feel confident sitting at any table and to experience the strategy, joy, and social connection that American mah jongg offers.
