Julie is a government contract manager supporting the Department of Defense, where she’s spent her career navigating detailed regulations, balancing risk, and translating complex requirements into clear, actionable guidance. She brings that same precision and clarity to Mahjong—organizing structured lessons, simplifying the National Mah Jongg League card, and helping players feel confident with both the rules and the strategy behind them.

Julie first discovered Mahjong as a way to challenge her mind and step away from the computer screen, but she quickly fell in love with the game’s rhythm, community, and connection. Her years of caregiving for her parents shaped her deep patience and compassion, qualities that now define her teaching style and the supportive environments she creates.

Today, Julie teaches Mahjong to foster a warm, encouraging space where learners can develop skills, build confidence, and enjoy the sense of belonging she found through the game. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international marketing from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in management from the Florida Institute of Technology. Julie resides in Fairhope, Alabama, and also teaches in Huntsville.
