Ellis is a co-founder of The Midwest mah jongg Society, a vibrant and inclusive mah jongg community serving Southwest Missouri. Her deep love for mah jongg—and for bringing people together—has played a key role in cultivating a welcoming space where players of all experience levels feel encouraged and supported.

Ellis teaches at special events, community and senior centers, churches, and private gatherings. Drawing on years of experience as a professional trainer, she is known for her contagious enthusiasm and ability to create engaging, confidence-building learning experiences that make the game approachable and memorable.

Outside the mah jongg world, Ellis enjoys pickleball and explores her creative side as an emerging enamelist in jewelry design, bringing curiosity, artistry, and passion to everything she does.

Midwest Mahjong Society is a friendly, inclusive community where players of all experience levels can come together to learn, play, and connect. With regularly scheduled games in welcoming public venues, the group makes it easy to join in, meet new people, and enjoy mah jongg without pressure or intimidation. New players are supported, experienced players stay engaged, and every gathering is designed to feel social, relaxed, and fun—because great Mahjong is about connection as much as it is about the tiles.
