Mahjong tiles can be cleaned at home using a baby wipe or a soft cloth dampened with a mild cleaning solution. Do not use sanitizing wipes, and avoid submerging the tiles in water or attempting to clean them in a dishwasher or washing machine.

For contemporary sets, use a small amount of mild dishwashing liquid diluted in warm. If the tiles are exceptionally grimy, a diluted solution of isopropyl alcohol and water can help.
