For 48 continuous hours, four players will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest mah jongg marathon.

No substitutions.
No shortcuts.
No stopping the clock.

This isn’t just about endurance. It’s about impact.

Why We’re Doing This

Mah jongg sharpens memory, focus, and resilience. It brings people together across generations, building connection through shared challenge, rhythm, and play.

This 48-hour record attempt is for the community of players—those who gather at tables every week, who learn, teach, compete, and connect through the game. It is a demonstration of what this community represents at its highest level: discipline, endurance, and a deep respect for the game.

For 48 straight hours, we will test our mental stamina not just as individuals, but as representatives of a larger, growing community.

In support of this effort, we are also raising funds for causes that matter to our community, extending the impact beyond the table.

The Record Attempt

This is an officially sanctioned Guinness World Record attempt subject to strict evidence and verification standards. Every aspect of the 48-hour marathon must be precise, documented, and independently verified.

The attempt requires::

  • Continuous gameplay with a four-member team for 48 hours
  • Two independent witnesses present at all times
  • Two qualified timekeepers present at all times
  • Witnesses and timekeepers rotating in four-hour shifts, requiring multiple volunteer teams to maintain compliance
  • Detailed written statements from all witnesses and timekeepers
  • A maintained log book documenting the full attempt
  • Complete video documentation

This is not symbolic. It is a disciplined, structured endurance event held to rigorous verification standards.

Be Part of History

48 Hours.
Two Causes.
One Attempt.

There are four ways to participate:

1. Volunteer

To make this possible, we need structured volunteer teams.

Because witnesses and timekeepers are limited to 4-hour shifts (with a required 4-hour rest minimum before returning). To give teams longer rest periods, we’d like to have 4 teams rotate over the 48-hour period, allowing a 12-hour break between shifts.

If you are detail-oriented, reliable, and able to commit to a full four-hour shift, we invite you to apply.

2. Sponsor

This 48-hour mah jongg marathon is a formal Guinness World Record attempt, which requires professional documentation and structured oversight.

Sponsorship directly supports:

  • Professional videography required for official record submission
  • Meals and refreshments for players and volunteer teams serving around the clock
  • The operational needs that ensure continuity, accuracy, and credibility throughout the event

Your support makes it possible for this effort to meet the required standards while honoring the volunteers and players who make it happen.

Promotion for this event will be distributed across four established mah jongg platforms with national reach. Combined audiences include Nancy de Zutter’s local community of mah jongg enthusiasts, Jan Egri’s 200,000-member Facebook community, Jennifer Baer Clayton’s tournament network reaching up to 3,000 in-person players annually, and Michele Frizzell’s 57,000 YouTube subscribers, 82,000 Facebook followers, and 5,000 email subscribers. While some audience overlap exists, conservative projections estimate more than 100,000 cumulative pre-event digital impressions, with additional visibility through livestream coverage, tournament promotion, and post-event recap content.

Align your brand with endurance, community impact, and a historic attempt.
