When Mah Jongg was first introduced to America in the early 1920s, a group of enthusiasts in New York standardized the rules for their sisterhood. As interest grew, other synagogues sought to do the same, leading to the formation of an organization dedicated to sharing their unique version of the game. They began publishing an annual card, with some proceeds supporting charitable causes.

For American Mah Jongg players, purchasing the annual card is both a tradition and a joy. It offers new hands to play each year and is a meaningful way to give back to the community. Official American Mah Jongg cards are available exclusively through the National Mah Jongg League’s online store.
