Roberta has been passionate about mah jongg for over 30 years. As both a seasoned player and enthusiastic teacher, she finds joy in welcoming new players to the game she loves. Her original playing group is still going strong, and today, three generations of her family play together—including her daughters, granddaughters, and grandson, all under the age of 11. For Roberta, mah jongg is more than a game—it’s a meaningful bridge across generations and a source of lasting connection.

An avid collector of vintage mah jongg sets, Roberta delights in sharing their unique stories and craftsmanship. Her collection includes playable sets dating back to the 1920s, each one lovingly restored and regularly used. She frequently hosts “show and tell” gatherings in her home, where students and friends can explore both vintage and modern sets and learn about their history.

Roberta teaches American mah jongg and follows National Mah Jongg League rules. She believes in the power of the game to build friendships and community, and she’s confident that once you start, you’ll love it just as much as she does.
