René is a retired health care administrator and registered nurse whose love for all things mah jongg has grown into a dedicated teaching practice. She works with players of all levels, blending strategic instruction with the social and cultural richness that make the game so meaningful. René understands the health benefits mahjong offers—from supporting memory and fine motor skills to easing loneliness and fostering connection—and she incorporates those values into every class.

Her goal is to build a welcoming community where friendships form naturally around the table and players are empowered to learn, grow, and enjoy themselves. René has guided many students in developing strong foundational skills, appreciating the history behind the tiles, and finding joy in both casual and competitive play. Her teaching style is warm, relaxed, and approachable, making mahjong accessible for newcomers and rewarding for those ready to sharpen their game.
