Biography
Pat Ford, Memphis Tennessee, was introduced to this fascinating game by a neighbor who wanted to start a group at the community clubhouse. In the Fall of 2020, I joined with other neighbors as a veteran player from the JCC was asked to teach our small group the basics. Jumping in with both feet, jokers blazing, we began the journey. Time marches on and we now have a weekly clubhouse game, a weekly senior center game, and a monthly group, Lunch and Play, that meets at a different restaurant each month for lively conversation, food, and great Mah Jongg games. In addition, we have a group of subs that alternate between groups and a waiting list for the Intro Class. New students enjoy the visual aids, color handouts as well as one-on-one coaching from table helpers, all former students. I love this amazing game. The enjoyment and satisfaction received when new students make their first Mah Jongg is the best feeling in the world.
