Mona is an avid mah jongg enthusiast who approaches learning the game with both dedication and joy. She continually deepens her understanding by studying strategies, practicing regularly, and sharing her love of mah jongg with others. Based in northwest New Mexico near the Four Corners, Mona is committed to growing the local mah jongg community by creating more opportunities for open play and beginner-friendly learning.

She especially enjoys introducing new players to the fundamentals of the game under National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and guiding them through structured, hands-on sessions that build confidence through practice and fun. Teaching alongside two fellow instructors, Mona welcomes large groups with ease—turning every class into an engaging, laughter-filled experience.

For Mona, mah jongg is more than a pastime; it’s a source of joy, growth, and meaningful connection that brings people together—one tile at a time.

Student Skill Level: Beginner

Mahjong Mayhem is a lively community of players who meet for open play every Saturday and host fun, themed mahjong parties throughout the year. Led by three passionate instructors, the group blends social connection with skill-building—offering ongoing tips, strategy insights, and support to help players grow their confidence and enjoy the game. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, Mahjong Mayhem is all about learning, laughter, and play.
