Lisa first entered the world of mah jongg while living as an expat in Singapore from 2010 to 2014. What began as a social outlet quickly became a meaningful cultural experience. Immersed in a community deeply influenced by Chinese tradition, she discovered that mah jongg was far more than a pastime—it was a bridge to connection, history, and belonging.

After returning to the United States, Lisa learned American mah jongg from her mother and soon began teaching family and friends. As the game’s popularity grew, she combined her passion for mah jongg with her love of teaching, formally launching her business in early 2024 to help grow the mah jongg community in the western Chicago suburbs.

A graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in elementary education, Lisa draws on her background as a teacher to make mah jongg approachable and engaging. She specializes in breaking down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step lessons that help students gain confidence and understanding.

Lisa believes anyone can learn and love this game. Her mission is to bring people together through mah jongg—building friendships, laughter, and lifelong connections one tile at a time.
