Jude, founder of Pine Belt Mahjong, teaches American mah jongg exclusively using National Mah Jongg League rules. With a deep understanding of both the mechanics and strategy of the game, Jude brings structure and clarity to every lesson. Her students benefit from her organized approach and ability to make complex concepts accessible.

Jude leverages her strengths in public speaking and problem-solving to foster confidence in her learners. Her passion for mah jongg began in childhood, watching the ladies at the club gather every Friday afternoon. A lifelong card and game enthusiast, she also participates in two bridge groups and a Shanghai Rummy circle. However, among all the games she plays, mah jongg has stood the test of time.

Jude is inspired by the game’s growing popularity and is committed to sharing its joy with her local community and beyond.

Student Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Online Lesson Size: Prefer in person, but could do online for no more than two people

In-Person Lesson Size: Up to 8 players for one-on-one instruction and overview, with larger groups of any size

In-Person Guided Play Size: Up to 8 players with a 1:4 instructor-player ratio
