Biography
Jennifer discovered mah jongg after her mother’s passing in 2018, inspired by memories of watching her play with friends and neighbors. What began as a way to feel connected soon became a lasting passion. Drawn to the game’s mix of logic, flow, and community, Jennifer founded Mahj Over Matter to share that same joy with others across the DC Metro area.
Before teaching mahjong, Jennifer built a career as a litigation attorney. She now channels that precision and structure into her lessons, helping students learn the National Mah Jongg League rules with clarity and confidence. Known for her organized yet approachable teaching style, she creates a relaxed, encouraging environment where beginners can succeed quickly.
Jennifer teaches personalized private lessons and small-group sessions in homes and at local venues throughout Montgomery County, Maryland, and the DC Metro Area. She believes mah jongg is more than a game—it’s a joyful pastime that fosters friendship, connection, and community.
