Biography
Jay has been playing mah jongg for more than eleven years, first learning the game in Arizona and continuing to play while wintering in Brownsville, Texas. Along the way, she built playing groups wherever she landed—including during her time running an RV parking community, where mah jongg quickly became a social cornerstone.
After relocating to Topeka, Jay sought out an established women’s group but ultimately chose to step away when it didn’t reflect the welcoming spirit she believes mah jongg should embody. Instead, she gathered a small group of friends eager to learn and grow together. That group has since become a thriving, inclusive community rooted in respect, learning, and fun.
Jay’s group follows NMJL rules and emphasizes fairness, clarity, and good etiquette. She is now focused on helping players steadily improve their skills and confidence, ensuring everyone feels supported as their game evolves. For Jay, mah jongg is about connection, integrity, and creating a table where everyone belongs.
