Biography
Jan is an experienced educator currently serving as a Special Education Campus Coordinator for a middle school. After more than two decades living in Texas, she will retire in May and return home to the Mississippi Delta, where she grew up and where her adult children and their families now live. Her two granddaughters—each three years old—are a joyful part of the life she is excited to return to.
Over the past year, Jan has enthusiastically immersed herself in the world of mah jongg. She has participated in more than 100 play sessions, including open play gatherings, a traditional tournament, and a seven-week winter league. Along the way, she has introduced many friends to the game and now regularly hosts weekly or bi-weekly gatherings that often stretch into joyful marathon sessions around the table. For Jan, mah jongg is more than a game—it’s a source of connection, laughter, and deep satisfaction that she looks forward to sharing with her community.
