Biography
Ileana Couret-Endom teaches both American mah jongg—using National Mah Jongg League rules—and the Hong Kong style, bringing a versatile perspective to the table. She has developed effective methods to help players navigate the game’s complexities and believes mah jongg is more than just play—it’s a catalyst for community, fostering critical thinking, social connection, and lasting friendships.
Ileana began playing in 2017 after reading Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan and was instantly drawn in. Since 2024, she has been teaching American mah jongg monthly in The Woodlands, Texas, and hosting open play sessions to grow local interest.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s in information technology management from the University of Tampa. When she’s not teaching, Ileana enjoys volunteering, traveling, and sharing great meals with her husband, Frank.
