Biography
Holly is a mah jongg instructor based in Cypress, TX, who specializes in reaching American mah jongg in a fun, relaxed, and approachable way. Through simplified mini-lessons and a step-by-step approach, she helps students build confidence while reinforcing National Mah Jongg League rules and principles. Holly is passionate about creating a welcoming learning environment where students not only learn the game but also feel connected to a growing community.
A certified Special Education Teacher and School Counselor with over a decade of experience, Holly brings her educational expertise into every lesson. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master’s in School Counseling from Lamar University.
Always striving to grow as an instructor, Holly actively connects with peers, attends professional development events, and incorporates the latest best practices into her teaching. She offers classes, private lessons, open plays, league opportunities, and tournaments, and even creates beginner-friendly learning tools to support new players.
When she’s not teaching or organizing events, Holly can be found cheering on her son as he marches with his nationally recognized high school band.
