Fern Grunberger
Biography
Fern loves the game of Mah Jongg and has informally taught many folks how to play. With a background in counseling, teaching, and mentoring, she created a formal course for new learners at the request of staff from a local community adult recreation program. Her teaching style is warm, supportive, encouraging, and humorous. She and the learners had a great deal of fun, and the participants finished with a good understanding of the game and NMJL rules. Fern now regularly teaches structured class sessions at the community center, and her classes are always filled. Her former students have formed ongoing groups and continue to play together. Fern also offers intermittent reviews and tutoring sessions for former students. In her happy retirement years, she continues to teach and play the game she loves.
