IN-PERSON GIG The Art of Hand Development 2026
June 21 @ 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM EDT

The first challenge in mah jongg is deciding how to play the hand you’re dealt—and it’s not as straightforward as it seems. Two players can look at the exact same tiles and choose entirely different paths, both with real winning potential. So how do you know which direction to take? And more importantly, how do you move forward with confidence once you’ve made that choice?
In this 60-minute, conference-style talk, Michele will walk you through the art of hand development, breaking down how strong players assess their tiles, identify opportunity, and build momentum from the very first pass. You’ll learn how to work at the category level, recognize patterns as they form, and make decisions that keep your hand progressing instead of stalling.
Along the way, Michele will introduce three powerful tactics to help you simplify your thinking and stay focused at the table: how to optimize what you’re given, how to maximize emerging strength, and how to streamline your path when the game starts to shift. These concepts come to life through table tiles, giving you a hands-on way to see how decisions unfold in real time.
After the talk, you’ll have the opportunity to relax, connect, and put what you’ve learned into practice during guided gameplay with coaching support.
Whether you’re still building confidence or looking to sharpen your decision-making, this experience will help you move from uncertainty to clarity—and from hesitation to momentum.
What You’ll Walk Away With
- A clearer way to evaluate your tiles at the start of every game
- A structured approach to building and adjusting your hand
- Greater confidence in your decision-making
